U-18 Academy squad improves to 2-0 at Dallas Cup

The Houston Dynamo Academy U-18 team improved to 2-0 at the prestigious Dallas Cup on Wednesday, beating Texas Cyclones White by a 3-0 score.

The Academy is in first place in U-19 Bracket B and will conclude group play Wednesday at 10 a.m. against HPFC Heat Blue. That game was postponed from Tuesday due to inclement weather.

In Wednesday's contest, with games reduced to 70 minutes due to rain in the area, the Dynamo took an early 2-0 advantage. Carlos Recinos (Cy Ridge / Houstonians) scored in the 15th and 30th minutes. His two goals give him three goals for the tournament.

Josue Garcia (Jersey Village / Houstonians) scored in the 45th minute to put the game away. The Dynamo held on for the shutout in the match, which was played on an artificial surface, and will conclude group play Thursday in hopes of earning a high seed for the playoffs in the U-19 flight. Last year, the Dynamo lost on penalty kicks in the final.
