Tournaments added to 2007 Premier Tournament Series

Washington, D.C. - D.C. United announced today three summer soccer tournaments have been added to the D.C. United Premier Tournament Series. The 2007 Independence Cup 5v5 Soccer Tournament will be held July 7 and 8 at Kincheloe Fields in Clifton, VA. D.C. United will present the 2007 Dulles National Soccer tournament to be held August 25 and 26 throughout Northern Virginia, while The WAGS Festival in the Park of the Washington Areas Girls Soccer League will take place June 16 and 17 at Bull Run Regional Park.


2007 Independence Cup 5 v 5 Soccer Tournament, hosted by Virginian Blackwatch Soccer Club & Virginian Independent Soccer Team Association will be held July 7 & 8 at Kincheloe Fields in Clifton, VA. The tournament field complex consists of 19 small-sided fields and divisions are open for U-8 to U-14 boys/girls teams. Co-ed parent teams are encouraged to join in the special exhibition play schedule before or after your child's games. Each registered player will receive a D.C. 2007 Dulles National Soccer Tournament presented by D.C. United will be held August 25 & 26 throughout Northern Virginia. For 16 years Herndon Youth Soccer have had the privilege of hosting this tournament, which is renowned as a great pre-fall season warm up tournament. Over 300 teams participate, ages U9 to U19 Boys/Girls from several states. As with years past, the first 150 teams to register will receive FREE tickets to attend a D.C. The WAGS Festival in the Park was established in 2005 by the Washington Area Girls Soccer League and will take place June 16 & 17 at Bull Run Regional Park. This tournament is intended to promote team building, player development and the success of the small-sided game (7v7 and 8v8). It has seen teams participate from all over the Mid-Atlantic area and in 2007 will have a team from Hawaii in its U-11 age group. Each team in the tournament will receive free D.C. The D.C. United Premier Tournament Series was established in 2006 and seeks partnerships with competitive youth soccer events throughout the mid-Atlantic region. Last season, three tournaments partnered with the Black-and-Red through this initiative, providing participants unprecedented competition and access to the four-time MLS Cup champions.
