Toronto FC return to Charleston for preseason

Toronto FC announced Tuesday that the team will return to Charleston, South Carolina for their second appearance in the Carolina Challenge Cup.

The 2008 edition of the tournament will take place at Blackbaud Stadium, on Daniel Island, SC from March 15-22, 2008 and will also feature MLS clubs New York Red Bulls, and the expansion San Jose Earthquakes. Hosts USL First Division side Charleston Battery round out the 4 team event. Toronto will arrive in South Carolina March 12th and train in between matches before returning back home on March 23rd.

The competition format will remain unchanged in 2008 with three Matchday's each featuring a double-header, in a round-robin format.

Toronto FC finished last year's tournament in 2nd place, behind MLS Champions Houston Dynamo who are unable to defend their title due to CONCACAF Champions Cup commitments. Remarkably each winner from the previous five CCC competitions has gone on to win either the regular season championship or MLS Cup.
