Toronto FC news update

Defender Jim Brennan and the rest of Toronto FC will return to action against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday.

Toronto FC's Todd Dunivant is expected to return to training. He missed the game at D.C. United with a hip flexor injury and has not trained so far this week. He is now ready to join the team again. "It was frustrating missing the game in D.C. but I feel good now and should be able to return to training on Thursday," said Dunivant.

Julius James is almost ready to make his first appearance of the season. The defender was picked up by TFC in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft and impressed with his performances in preseason. James injured his shoulder in the final preseason game against Charleston and has had to sit out the first two games.

James played 45 minutes of the 2-1 reserve team win against United Soccer League side Cleveland on Monday and Coach John Carver is pleased with his progress. "Julius did well and came through the game fine. I don't know yet if he'll be starting on Sunday."

Collin Samuel missed the trip to D.C. United with a hamstring injury. It is not yet known when he will be ready to return to action.

The players are off Wednesday and return to training Thursday morning.
