About Hunger in Toronto
The need for food bank donations in Toronto over the summer is great. Many donors take vacation during the summer months and, as a result, donations drop even though food bank usage remains constant. In 2005, almost 900,000 people relied on food banks in the GTA; 38% of those clients were children. Toronto's Daily Bread Food Bank serves about 75,000 each month through approximately 190 programs operated by its 160 member agencies. Last year, the food bank distributed nearly 13,000,000 pounds of food to clients struggling with hunger.

Purolator food drives and fundraising initiatives are part of the company's commitment to helping alleviate hunger in Canada. Working closely with the Canadian Association of Food Banks, Purolator helped raise over one million pounds of food since 2003 for local food banks across Canada.
