Chelsea will bring a roster laden with international stars to Chicagoland for a match that falls just two weeks before the start of its 2006/2007 domestic campaign. Chelsea's cast of stars features 16 players that were named to their countries' squads for the recently completed FIFA World Cup in Germany, including tournament All-Star Team performers Michael Ballack (Germany), Ricardo Carvalho (Portugal), Hernan Crespo (Argentina) and John Terry (England). Also included in the London outfit's stable of world-class players are World Cup finalists Claude Makelele and William Gallas of France, Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech and the club's newest acquisition, Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko, who is scheduled to make his debut in Chelsea blue in Bridgeview.

This will be the third time that the League's best players battle one of the world's top clubs in the Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game, which was adopted to ensure the most competitive All-Star spectacle in U.S. professional sports. Last year, the MLS All-Stars, led by MLS Honda All-Star MVP Taylor Twellman, defeated English Premier League club Fulham FC, 4-1, at a sold out Columbus Crew Stadium and in 2003, the MLS All-Stars downed storied Mexican club CD Guadalajara, 3-1, at The Home Depot Center with Carlos Ruiz capturing MVP honors.
