Three Red Bulls undergo successful surgeries

SECAUCUS, N.J. - New York Red Bulls defenders Carlos Mendes, Tim Regan and Marvell Wynne all recently underwent successful surgeries.

In Munich, Germany, Mendes had a right side inguinal hernia injury or "sports hernia" repaired by Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck. Muschaweck performed a Minimal Repair Technique on Mendes, which is a procedure developed and performed exclusively by Dr. Muschaweck. She has performed this same procedure on over 1500 athletes. Mendes should be fully recovered in 12 to 14 days.

Regan had surgery to repair a labrum tear in his right hip, which was performed by Dr. Bryan Kelly at the Hospital for Special Surgeries in New York City. He is expected to need four to five months to recover.

Wynne had a procedure to repair the Ulnar Collateral Ligament of his right thumb, which was injured during the Red Bulls match with Real Salt Lake on August 28. Wynne has resumed training and is expected to be fully recovered when players report at the end of January. This is the same surgery that fellow rookie Jozy Altidore underwent in November.
