TFC pair on U.S. Olympic Qualifying roster

Toronto FC midfielder and 2007 MLS Rookie of the Year Maurice Edu, and defender Marvell Wynne have been named to the 20 man roster by Head Coach Peter Nowak to represent the United States in the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying tournament.

Nowak named the team after a training camp was held in Bradenton Florida over the past week.

Both Edu and Wynne were with the U.S U-23 squad in late November, early December of 2007 as the team competed in China in another camp that served as preparations for this upcoming tournament. Both players have also had experience with the U.S. Men's National Team as well. Edu competed in two friendlies in October (Switzerland) and November (South Africa) in 2007, while Wynne was a member of the squad that competed in the Copa America tournament in Venezuela this past summer.

The U.S. will play Cuba in their opening game in Group A March 11, at 8 p.m. ET at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Next up will be Panama March 13, 8p.m. ET with the last game slated against Honduras March 15, at 7p.m. ET.

Group B consists of Canada, Guatemala, Haiti, and Mexico with those matches taking place at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California beginning March 12. Canada will announce their qualifying roster on Tuesday. The top two teams from Group A and B will move on to the semifinals in Nashville, Tenn., where the winners will earn berths to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

The semifinals are slated to take place March 20, with the Third-Place match and the final set for March 23.
