TFC to open '08 home season on April 19

Toronto FC announced Tuesday that the club will kick off their second season in Major League Soccer at BMO Field on Saturday, April 19, 2008 when they welcome Western Conference opponents Real Salt Lake. The last meeting between these two was Sept. 15, 2007 in Toronto with the teams playing to a scoreless result.

The MLS season kicks off March 29, 2008, a week earlier than last season, which opened April 7, 2007.

Major League Soccer has revealed its First Kick, opening weekend, schedule and all of the teams home openers. The full 2008 MLS schedule will be announced in early 2008.

"When you see the first few games already on the schedule, you realize the season is not that far off," said Head Coach Mo Johnston. "We'll head to Columbus, then off to D.C. - then we'll take a week to get ready for our home opener against Salt Lake. I'm looking forward to it, and I'm sure our fans are as well."

Toronto will travel for MLS opening weekend to Columbus and meet the Crew March 29 in Ohio at 4 pm ET. Week 2 will see TFC head to the sight of the MLS Cup 2007 when they take on D.C. United Saturday April 5 with a start time slated for 7:30 pm ET. The team will have an early bye week before playing their 2008 home opener at BMO Field against Real Salt Lake Saturday, April 19, time TBD.

Toronto FC has sold out of season seats for the 2008 MLS season, by capping sales at 16,000. This surpasses the 14,000 seats that were set aside for season seat holders in the team's inaugural season.
