TFC aim to add to squad

Mo Johnston would like to add Darren Huckerby and Paul Dickov to the TFC roster.

Toronto FC Director of Soccer Mo Johnston will hold talks with the agent of Darren Huckerby and Paul Dickov over the next few days. The duo watched Toronto's Nutrilite Canadian Championship game against Vancouver Whitecaps at BMO Field on Tuesday, and Dickov trained with the team on Thursday.

Dickov is a 35 year old striker who started his career at Arsenal and also played in the English Premier League with Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City. Huckerby also played in the EPL with Leeds United and Manchester City. He has played in the English Championship with Norwich City since 2003.

Toronto captain Jim Brennan played in the same team as Huckerby at Norwich City and Nottingham Forest. "I know Hucks very well," said Brennan. "He's got good pace and loves to run at defenders and attack the goal. Both of them are good players and would do well over here."

"The more players you get to come to the club, the more competition there is for places," said Brennan. "It always makes for a good team when guys are scrapping to get in the starting line up. With players going away on international duty, we need players to come in, and it's good that we're looking to add to the squad and improve the depth. It makes for a bright future for the club."
