Survivor Brazil: Crossbar Challenge

Crossbar Challenge!

with a twist. Each team selected two pair of teammates to compete.

Goal: In five minutes, how many times the players could hit the crossbar from the top of the 18-yard box.

Twist: One member of the pair had to hang from the crossbar until the crossbar was hit by his teammate. Once the ball hit, the two would alternate.

Set Up: Two regulations-sized goals were placed next to each other. Two players would hang from each goal, while two others took the shots trying to hit the crossbar. The remaining players were evenly split around the goal to send balls back out, and at the top of the 18 to keep the balls ready for the kickers.

Pairs:
Young - Drew Moor and Michael Dello-Russo; and Arturo Alvarez and Scott Jones.

Old - Carlos Ruiz and Richard Mulrooney; and David Wagenfuhr and Clarence Goodson.

The Young team took the early lead, hitting the crossbar at a quick rate. However, the veterans stormed back, hitting the crossbar four times in the last minute. Though members of the Young team questioned the accuracy of the final count, the final score after five minutes left the teams deadlocked at 17 hits each.

Final count: Ruiz/Mulrooney = 11; Goodson, Wagenfuhr = 6; Dello-Russo/Moor = 8; Alvarez, Jones = 9

A tie-breaker was used to determine the winner - the first pair of teammates (already competing) to have both players hit the crossbar would win the Crossbar Challenge.

In less than two minutes, Ruiz and Mulrooney had each hit. The Old-timers ran to the pair and together they all jumped around in celebration, while the Young team looked on, still claiming the final score was not 17 all.
