Supporters' Weekend returns at MLS Cup

NEW YORK - The 2006 Major League Soccer Supporters' Weekend is returning to Frisco, Texas, the home of FC Dallas and Pizza Hut Park from Nov. 10-12. All supporters of MLS and its teams are encouraged to gather for a weekend of activities surrounding MLS Cup 2006.

The festivities will kick off on Friday, Nov. 10 at 4p.m. CT with a Supporters Meet and Greet at the Embassy Suites hotel bar in Frisco that will include the opportunity to mingle with MLS players. On Saturday, fans can participate in a full day of activities at Pizza Hut Park including the Supporters' Tournament and the Supporters Summit, where supporters will receive the latest league news from MLS officials, have the chance to ask Commissioner Don Garber questions and witness D.C. United receive the 2006 Supporters' Shield. Kenny Cooper, Sr. will be providing the keynote address. Later that evening, a Supporter's Charity Auction will see the sale of a wide selection of MLS specialty items from around the league, all going to benefit a number of organizations, including the Aedan Hamilton Foundation.

On game day, Sunday, November 12, supporters can enjoy a pre-game tailgate party and chili cook-off, as well as a post-game tailgate party. The Food Network's Emeril Live! will be visiting the pre-game festivities.

The Supporters' Weekend is an annual event put on by the supporters group from the MLS Cup host city. The celebration helps strengthen the league's relationship with its most loyal fans while providing a forum for fans to give valuable feedback. This year's event is being hosted by The Inferno, the independent supporters group of FC Dallas.

The 2005 Summit drew hundreds of supporters to Frisco to watch the game, listen to Commissioner Garber and Deputy Commissioner Ivan Gazidis discuss the league and witness the passing of the Supporter's Shield to San Jose.
