Seattle MLS tickets selling fast

Since Commissioner Garber announced Seattle's expansion team, they've sold 10,000 season tickets.

The new, and as yet unnamed, MLS club in Seattle has sold more than 10,000 season ticket memberships, since the team was announced on November 13.

Seattle will commence playing in 2009 in Qwest Field, in downtown Seattle, sharing with the Seattle Seahawks who recently won their NFL division. It's also been a good week for owner and Hollywood producer Joe Roth, whose films "The Great Debaters" and "Across the Universe" were nominated for Golden Globes.

"We set very lofty goals when we announced the team less than a month ago" said Roth. "The response from the local community continues to energize and strengthen our commitment to create a team and fan experience unlike any other."

Seattle MLS continue to accept season ticket membership deposits at $50 per seat. This membership deposit guarantees a place in line and priority to purchase season tickets for the 2009 season, and the complete amount paid will be credited towards the initial season ticket purchase. Prices and locations are to be announced at a later date.

Season ticket deposits may be made at www.MLSinSeattle.com, by calling 1-877-MLS-GOAL, or by visiting the Qwest Field Box Office, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Ely Allen and Kevin Forrest from the University of Washington, located in Seattle, and George Josten from Gonzaga University, have been invited to the 2008 Adidas MLS Player Combine to be held in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. from Jan. 11-15. General managers and coaches from the MLS will evaluate them prior to the 2008 MLS SuperDraft to be held on January 18 in Baltimore.
