NEW YORK - The Professional Soccer Reporters Association voted Kansas City forward Scott Sealy as Major League Soccer's Player of the Week for Week 29, the final week of the 2007 MLS regular season, after the Trinidad and Tobago international scored both of his teams goals in a 2-0 road win over FC Dallas on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Pizza Hut Park. With the victory Kansas City secured its spot in the 2007 MLS Cup Playoffs race.
Sealy's first goal came on a clinical finish in the 39th minute. Wizards midfielder Davy Arnaud lifted a perfectly weighted pass over the FC Dallas defense and into the penalty area. Sealy brought the ball down with his chest and placed the ball into the right corner of the goal past FC Dallas goalkeeper Ray Burse to put the Wizards up 1-0.
Arnaud again began the sequence for the game's final goal as he slipped a clever pass through two defenders and into the penalty area for Jack Jewsbury, who fired a hard low shot across the goal mouth. Sealy got in behind the defense and redirected the ball into the back of the net to put the game out of reach in the 55th minute.
This marks the third career MLS Player of the Week honor for Sealy. He earned the award this season in Week 24 and in Week 12 of 2006. Sealy finished the regular season ranked second in scoring for the Wizards with seven goals, two of which were game winners. The three-year MLS veteran has recorded 26 career goals and five assists in 75 games played.
The Major League Soccer Player of the Week is selected each week of the MLS regular season by a panel of journalists from the Professional Soccer Reporters Association (PSRA).
