FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas today announced that midfielder Marcelo Saragosa will miss 4-6 weeks with a right sprained MCL. The 25-year old Saragosa was injured in the 25th minute of the 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy at The Home Depot Center on April 12. Saragosa, who joined FC Dallas in a trade with the LA Galaxy in July 2006, had started each of the first two games of the 2007 season.
Other injury updates:
Defender David Wagenfuhr suffered a concussion in the 15th minute of the game on Sunday, April 15 against the New York Red Bulls. His status is doubtful for the home-opener on Sunday, April 22 versus Colorado. His return is uncertain based on future testing and evaluation.
Forward Roberto Mina continues to recover from a left MCL sprain, which he suffered in the final preseason game of the year on March 31 against Brazilian-partner club Atletico Paranaense. He is doubtful for the home-opener and is listed as week to week.
Midfielder Sandy Gbandi Jr. is recovering from an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder. He was injured in a scrimmage against Tulsa on April 9th at Pizza Hut Park.
Defender Adrian Serioux continues rehabbing his left knee. Serioux underwent surgery on Feb. 20 after team doctors determined he had Osteochronditis Dessicans (OCD). In this case, OCD is essentially a bruise to the medial (inside) end of the femur bone that either never fully healed or was caused as a result of repetitive smaller injuries. At the time of the surgery, it was announced that Serioux was expected to be out between 4-6 months.
FC Dallas began the 2007 season with a three consecutive road games: a 2-2 draw versus Real Salt Lake (April 7); a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy (April 12); and a 3-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls (April 15).
Up next for FCD is the home-opener on Sunday, April 22 versus the Colorado Rapids (2 pm CT, live on Telefutura).
