The San Jose Earthquakes, Major League Soccer's newest expansion team, will hold a press conference on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 to make a major announcement at 5 p.m. ET (2 p.m, PT), as the club moves forward with operations.

Owners Lew Wolff and John Fisher, also principal owners of the Oakland Athletics, purchased the Earthquakes franchise from Major League Soccer in July of 2007. The Earthquakes will begin playing in the Bay Area in April of 2008.
The former Earthquakes franchise won two MLS Championships in 2001 and 2003. Season ticket deposits for the 2008 Earthquakes Major League Soccer season are now on sale.
