Salinas enjoys afternoon with MACSA

Shea Salinas (back) spent time with students at the Mexican American Community Services Agency.

San Jose Earthquakes forward Shea Salinas visited students participating in the Mexican American Community Services Agency (MACSA) afterschool program on Tuesday, May 20. The two-hour long visit began with the Grapevine, Texas native speaking to more than 70 students in attendance.

Salinas, who is currently finishing his undergraduate degree from Furman University, spoke about the importance of an education, pursuing a college degree, and the determination necessary to accomplish all of your dreams and goals. He heightened the significance of dreaming big and working hard to achieve your goals, as he said playing professional soccer was a lifelong dream of his and he was only able to accomplish it by dedicating himself to work hard both in school and on the field.

He concluded his speech by expressing the importance of eating healthy. Following his speech, Salinas answered questions from the inquiring group for more than 20 minutes. He concluded the day by showing the students several soccer moves and signing autographs for all in attendance.

The San Jose Earthquakes donated 50 tickets for the MACSA participants to see the Quakes face the Houston Dynamo on Thursday May 22, at 7:30 p.m. at Buck Shaw Stadium.
