Real Salt Lake is proud to partner with the Utah Youth Soccer Association in celebrating September as "Youth Soccer Month" as part of a nationwide youth soccer celebration. Youth Soccer Month is dedicated to increasing the awareness of the many benefits of playing youth soccer in America. RSL is proud to support this effort and further the goals of Youth Soccer Month. Soccer is the number one youth participation sport in America and plays a major role in the healthy lifestyles of millions of children every year.
As part of Youth Soccer Month, Real Salt Lake and the UYSA will be providing children ages U-6 to U-10 the opportunity to participate in a free soccer clinic on Friday, September 21, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. MT at Oquirrh Shadow Park, located at 10260 South 4000 West in West Jordan. As part of the clinic, Real Salt Lake players and mascot Leo the Lion will be making appearances. RSL players in attendance at the clinic will be announced in the upcoming week.
Real Salt Lake will also sponsor, along with the UYSA, a youth essay writing contest. The contest will be broken down into two divisions - ages 12 & under and 13-18. There will be two first place winners in each division, with the winners in the 12 & under division joining the "Dream Team" at a Real Salt Lake game, while the 13-18 age group winners will be chosen as sideline ball children at an RSL home game. There will also be two second place winners in each division who will receive a Real Salt Lake t-shirt. The topic for the essay is: "What is your most memorable youth soccer moment?" Tell us all about your most memorable soccer moment... Where did you play? What team did you play for? What happened at the game and why it is so memorable?
• Essays should be 1,000 words or less.
• Essays will be judged on spelling, punctuation, and content.
• Essays must be typed. All divisions can get help with typing, but must write and edit the essay themselves.
• Each essay should have a cover sheet stating the contestant's name, address, phone number; the title of their essay; and the age division in which they will be competing.
• All entries are the property of Utah Youth Soccer Association and will not be returned. Winning essays may be • used for promotional purposes.
• Entry is deadline Friday, September 21, 2007.

Discount tickets to the Sept. 19 game against the Galaxy are also available through the Orem Youth Soccer Association and the City of Orem. The Orem Youth Soccer Association, under the direction of President Steve Bowler, has purchased 1,000 tickets to the game and will be selling its remaining allotment of tickets this weekend at the Orem Lakeside Sports Complex (400 South 1850 West, Orem, UT) during the league's weekend games
