RSL (1-0-0) emerged victorious in its first preseason game, defeating the University of Central Florida, 4-3, with eight new players donning the RSL shield for the first time. MLS veteran Chris Brown scored two goals, including the equalizer and the game-winner. MF Joey Worthen, a native of Salt Lake City who attended Cottonwood High School, also added a goal and an assist. RSL's first preseason goal of 2007 was scored by former NE Revolution forward Kyle Brown, acquired on a SuperDraft-day trade.
