RSL In the community: Sept. 14-15

SALT LAKE CITY - Even though the Real Salt Lake roster and coaching staff remains on its four-game road trip this weekend in Toronto, Utah's MLS club will be well-represented throughout the Salt Lake City area during the upcoming weekend. RSL's involvement in this weekend's festivities begins tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 14, with a celebration of Mexico's Independence Day in West Valley City. RSL's popular mascot, Leo the Lion, will be busy on Saturday, as he'll take part in the Honda/Suzuki of Salt Lake charity motorcycle ride to benefit Operation Christmas Child in the morning before riding south to Orem's Lakeside Park to join members of the RSL Community Soccer staff at Orem City Youth Soccer league games.

Real Salt Lake will kick off the weekend's activities tomorrow evening from 5:30-10:00 p.m., when members of the club's front office will head to the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, located at 1355 W. 3100 South in West Valley City, to join in the celebration of Mexico's Independence Day. RSL staffers will be on hand with tickets to next week's home matches against the Los Angeles Galaxy and Colorado Rapids while also providing giveaway items for those in attendance, who might just hear the famous "El Grito." El Grito, or The Cry of Independence, is a chant held in Mexico that is led by the President and echoed by the governor of each state throughout the country. The event is free and open to the public.
