Revolution to open '08 season vs. Dynamo

The New England Revolution announced today that it will host MLS First Kick 2008 on Saturday, March 29 at Gillette Stadium, playing Houston Dynamo in the teams' 2008 season opener - a rematch of the last two MLS Cup championship matches. This marks the first time in the team's 13-year history that the Revolution have played a season-opening match at home.

The Revolution and Dynamo will kickoff at 7:30 p.m., and tickets to the highly anticipated rematch of two of the League's most successful teams are currently available exclusively through the purchase of 2008 season ticket packages or the special Revolution Holiday Four Pack. "We're pleased to open the 2008 season at home for the first time ever, and we're especially excited to open the season against Houston, which is becoming a great rival after our recent meetings at MLS Cup," Revolution General Manager Craig Tornberg said. "Gillette Stadium is one of the best home venues in Major League Soccer, and we believe our fans are the most passionate and supportive in the league. Our club is excited to be able to kick off the new season in front of our enthusiastic crowd, and to continue to develop the growing rivalry with Houston."

The Revs and Dynamo have met a total of six times since Houston entered the league as an expansion team in 2006. In regular-season action, the Revs hold a slim 1-0-3 lead in the all-time series. In postseason action, Houston is 2-0-0, both meetings coming in the last two MLS Cup championship matches.

The Revolution will play its second match of the 2008 season on the road, traveling to Bridgeview, Ill., to face the Chicago Fire at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 at Toyota Park.
