Revolution-Harrisburg game notes

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution takes a midweek break from Major League Soccer action when it hosts the Harrisburg City Islanders in the quarterfinals of the 2007 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Gillette Stadium.


New England has advanced to the quarterfinals of the oldest cup competition in the U.S. for the second time in as many years and for the fourth time overall. The MLS side entered the Open Cup bracket in the third round, defeating the Rochester Rhinos, 4-2, on July 10 behind two goals each from Taylor Twellman and Steve Ralston.


Harrisburg, one of two USL-2 (United Soccer Leagues Second Division) teams remaining in the round of eight, earned the right to face the Revolution by defeating MLS' D.C. United, 1-0, in the third round.
