Revolution 1, Red Bulls 0 -- quotes sheet

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION 1, NEW YORK RED BULLS 0

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION HEAD COACH STEVE NICOL

On scoring opportunities after the first goal:
"We need to do a better job with our chances. We kept them hanging around too long tonight. When you do that, it just takes one slip and then, all of a sudden, the game's tied when it shouldn't be. A few times (we) went one-on-one with their goalkeeper, and we need to do a better job with that. But we got one (goal), and we can't complain with one."

On the team's passing:
"I didn't think we were passing very well the first half. After last week last week, we tried to stay positive and there were some good points (to tonight's game). The first half, though, we really didn't get the ball all that we wanted to."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION FORWARD PAT NOONAN

On his goal, his first since June 2005:
"Satisfying, no question, not really worried about it. I was just kind of worried about getting out there and getting a full game in but obviously it didn't happen which was kind of disappointing. It was nice to help out a little bit."

On Ralston's assist:
"Perfect. I mean he put just enough weight on it so the defender had to kind of reach out thinking he had it, and I was able to get a little push on it to get my balance. But it was a perfectly weighted ball."

On the season:
"Frustrating. I wanted to help the team and stay consistent but I haven't been able to do that. But I hope to find a way down the stretch to stay healthy and stay on the field."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION GOALKEEPER MATT REIS

On the shutout victory:
"We really kind of make it hard on ourselves by only scoring one goal. But tonight, as a team, we really defended well in front of me and I think we did a really good job of talking to each other and organizing, especially in the midfield. We had a lot of guys coming and going and I thought we did a great job tonight."

On the team's effort:
"We've been really conscious of it lately, talking about it quite a bit, and we know that there's not that much room for error in the season and we really haven't played up to our potential. Tonight was great in that we created a lot of chances. Unfortunately, we didn't finish but Jon Conway made quite a few good saves."

NEW YORK RED BULLS HEAD COACH BRUCE ARENA

On the game:
"Obviously the early goal is a factor in a game. Give Noonan credit. I thought he did well to beat (Carlos) Mendes to the ball and finish. I thought our goalie had an excellent night. Jon made a bunch of big saves when we pressed and tried to get the goal."

On the loss:
"Falling behind early today, we made it real difficult on ourselves. We have a young team, but all three of these games, we were in position to get points. Every game we've been in, K.C. was 2-2 - in position to get three points there - the next game was a harder game to win given we fell back by two goals, and then today falling behind early and trying to come back. We had to make a last-minute adjustment when (Todd) Dunivant was pulled out. That made it a bit difficult on ourselves, but we have no excuses. We didn't play well enough to get a win. We made it real difficult on ourselves, we had moments where we played well and other moments where it was really sloppy. We have our next two games at home. We're going to have an opportunity to play at home now, hope to get three points there."

NEW YORK RED BULLS MIDFIELDER DEMA KOVALENKO

On the game:
"It's disappointing. We work hard to give ourselves great chances, but in the end of the day it's still 1-0. We don't get three points and that is most important thing for us; that's all we have to do. We have a week to get ready, make some adjustments. We'll watch the tape. All we can do now is make ourselves better, watch the mistakes we created and move forward. We can't look back; we lost the game. It's disappointing, but we have to look forward to Columbus."

NEW YORK RED BULLS GOALKEEPER JON CONWAY

On Revs goal:
"That's one of those shots where (Pat Noonan) hits it with the outside of his foot. It's either going real far or it's going in the top corner. Unfortunately, it went top corner. He got though the back. The ball just landed on Carlos (Mendes) a little bit a little bit and (Noonan) got in one-on-one."
