Reserves: Wizards 1, Fire 1

Kansas City got a 71st minute penalty kick from forward Ryan Pore to equalize the match and notch a point in the first MLS Reserve Division contest of 2007.

Chicago jumped in front in the 31st minute when forward Calen Carr slipped a through ball to cutting defender Osei Telesford. Telesford completed the play, pushing the ball past Kansas City goalkeeper Eric Kronberg for the early lead.

The Wizards drew level on plays from their strike tandem midway through the second half. Forward Willy Guadarrama, making his professional debut, played a ball off the hand of a Fire defender, drawing a penalty kick. Pore stepped to the spot and converted his 16th career Reserve Division goal to tie the match.

Guadarrama jump-started the Kansas City attack after entering to start the second half. The Wizards also got solid play from midfielder Will John, returning to play against the Fire squad that drafted him in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft. John was traded to Kansas City in January of 2006 with a second round MLS SuperDraft pick for midfielder Diego Gutierrez.

The Wizards Reserves next play Saturday, May 5 at home against the Columbus Crew Reserves at 2:30 p.m. CT. The match is part of a Saturday doubleheader in which the Kansas City first team takes on Columbus at 12 p.m. CT in Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City only has one doubleheader scheduled this season. Reserve matches are generally played at 10 a.m. on the day following a first-team match.
