Reserves: Red Bulls 2, Dynamo 0

The New York Red Bulls reserves kept their momentum rolling as they posted their second straight shutout this time defeating the Houston Dynamo reserves 2-0 at Giants Stadium on Saturday evening.

After an evenly played scoreless first half, the Red Bulls started to assert themselves from the beginning of the second half whistle. Seton Hall product Ted Niziolek was inserted into the lineup in the 46th minute and was involved in a few scoring chances in the 48th and 49th minutes.

The Red Bulls pressure paid off in the 51st minute when they were awarded a penalty kick after a Dynamo defender pulled Clint Mathis down in the box. Seth Stammler calmly stepped up and fired the ball into the side netting giving the Red Bulls a 1-0 lead.

Houston's best chance came nine minutes later as Chris Wondolowski collected a ball on the right sideline and swung in a cross that was volleyed just past the right post by Mike Ustruck.

The game stayed 1-0 until the 68th minute when Randi Patterson was on the receiving end of a Victor Kostnyski cross doubling the Red Bulls lead to 2-0.

Jerrod Laventure just missed adding another in 89th minute when he collected a ball at the top of the box and skillfully chipped the ball over defender Patrick Ianni to himself and his lofted right footed volley sailed just wide of the Houston net.

The Red Bull Reserves are now 2-0 on the season and have yet to concede a goal. The next Reserve Match will be Sunday, May 6th at Real Salt Lake.
