Reserves: Red Bulls 1, United 0

The New York Red Bull reserves defeated the D.C. United reserves 1-0 at Giants Stadium on Wednesday night. The lone goal was scored late in the second half by 17-year-old David Arvizu.

D.C. United had the first real scoring chance in the 13th minute when Matt Nickell's shot was saved by a diving Jon Conway. Six minutes later, D.C. found themselves with an indirect free kick from six yards out when Conway handled a pass back by Steve Jolley. With nine men in the wall on the goal line, Jamil Walker slid a ball to Nickell who put it over from eight yards out.

The Red Bulls had two good scoring chances towards the end of the first half, both coming off Seth Stammler corner kicks. The first came in the 34th minute when Blake Camp's header hit off the crossbar and into the hands of Nick Rimando. In the 40th minute, Jerrod Laventure got on the end of Stammler's cross and pushed it wide as the first half ended.

The intensity picked up in the second half as Conway made a kick save off a Nickell bid from six yards out in the 56th minute. In the 60th minute, Jordan Cila found himself on the corner of the box, but Rimando pushed his shot wide to the right.

The deciding goal came in the 87th minute. Camp darted down the right sideline and was able to slip in behind the D.C. defense. He hit a sharp low cross that Arvizu one-timed into the low, right corner.
