Reserves: Real 3, Revolution 2

PARK CITY, Utah - The Real Salt Lake Reserves scored three second-half goals to earn a 3-2 victory over the New England Revolution Reserves on Sunday at Quinn's Junction Park. RSL's Jamie Watson scored twice, including the game-winning goal in the 79th minute. Adam Cristman scored one goal and added one assist in the loss for the Revs.

The Revs (5-3-0, 15 pts.) took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute when Cristman first-timed Bryan Byrne's cross from the right, finding the inside of the far post behind RSL and U.S. Under-20 goalkeeper Chris Seitz. The Revolution took the lead into the second half, but Real Salt Lake (1-3-0, 3 pts.) guest player Adam Acosta slotted in the rebound of a Watson shot - which Revs keeper Brad Knighton initially saved - in the 58th minute to tie the score.

The Revs were whistled for a foul in the penalty area in the 68th minute, and Watson stepped up and converted the penalty kick attempt to give the hosts a 2-1 lead. Watson closed RSL's scoring in the 79th minute when he dispossessed Revs defender Amaechi Igwe near the corner flag and dribbled in on Knighton unmarked for the goal.

With stoppage time winding down, the Revs closed the deficit to one goal when Kyle Helton got behind the RSL defense on Gary Flood's pass and scored on substitute goalkeeper Kyle Reynish in the 93rd+ minute. Cristman started the play by feeding Flood just off the penalty arc, and Flood sent a through ball in behind the RSL central defenders where Helton ran on to it for the goal, his first in the reserve division.

Knighton made seven saves in the loss, while Seitz made four saves and Reynish two in the victory.

The Revs' reserves next see action on Sept. 9, when they face the D.C. United reserves immediately following the teams' first-team game at RFK Stadium. The first teams kick off at 3 p.m., and the reserves follow at 5:30 p.m.
