Reserves: Rapids 1, Wizards 0

The Colorado Rapids Reserves won their fourth straight Reserve League game 1-0 over the Kansas City Wizards Reserves to remain perfect for the season.

The game was played on the artificial surface at Broomfield County Commons Park because of a downpour in the Denver area that lasted throughout the game.

The Rapids Reserves controlled the pace of the game throughout the first half but were only able to beat goalie Wil Hesmer once.

In the 41st minute Colin Clark drove down the left side of the field and cut toward the penalty area. The Fort Collins, Colo. native took a left footed shot that Hesmer dove to parry away. The rebound came to Luchi Gonzalez who patiently waited for a play to develop before drilling a shot into the net on the near-post side of the goal.

With a steady rain fall Matt Jordan replaced Bouna Coundoul in net at half time. The Senegalese goalkeeper has kept a clean sheet for all 225 minutes he has played in the Reserve division this year.

The Rapids fell back into a defensive shell to keep Kansas City off the board. Jordan made three saves in his half in goal and got help from the post to keep his clean sheet.
