Reserves: LAG 4, RSL 2

The LA Galaxy won their second Reserve Division game of the year on Sunday, defeating Real Salt Lake 4-2 at The Home Depot Center. Gavin Glinton scored twice while Mike Caso and Mark Schulte added goals as the Galaxy opened up to a 4-0 lead inside the game's opening 60 minutes.

The match kicked off in the extreme heat but the temperature did not effect the home side as they opened up to a 3-0 halftime advantage. Glinton opened the scoring after just eight minutes when he scored his third Reserve Division goal of the year. Josh Tudela carried the ball through midfield and played a through ball for Glinton who was able to knife between a pair of Salt Lake defenders before slotting a right-footed shot under RSL goalkeeper Chris Seitz for a 1-0 advantage.

It was 2-0 just nine minutes later when guest player Mark Schulte was able to direct a header past Seitz from eight yards out. Eric Denton provided the cross from the left flank and Schulte was able send a header just inside the far post to double the Galaxy lead.

Glinton made it 3-0 six minutes before the break with the goal of the game, catching Real on the counter. Sixteen year-old Israel Sesay, who was making his Galaxy debut after joining the club last week, collected the ball in his own third of the field and quickly played the ball forward to Glinton at midfield. He turned past one defender and was able to outrace the rest of the rest of the Salt Lake defense. Glinton's first shot was saved by Seitz, but the Galaxy forward was the first to reach to the rebound and rolled a right-footed shot into the open net, for his team-best fourth goal of the year, giving LA a 3-0 halftime lead.

That was more than enough for Galaxy goalkeeper Lance Friesz who pulled off fine saves off of Christian Jimenez, Adam Acosta and Kyle Brown after the break.

The Galaxy increased their lead to 4-0 with 19 minutes left when Mike Caso scored his second goal of the year. Johnny Bravo's long ball from midfield found Caso in the box and the rookie forward collected the pass with his chest before lashing a left-footed shot off the far post and in, past RSL goalkeeper Kyle Reynish, making the score 4-0.

Christian Jimenez pulled one back two minutes later when he pounced on a rebound in the center of the box and scored with a right-footed shot from the center of the box, making the score 4-1.

Kyle Brown cut the lead to 4-2 four minutes before the end when he took a pass from Dustin Kirby and slid a right-footed shot past Friesz at his far post from 15 yards out.

However, that was the last of the scoring as the Galaxy held on to improve their record to 2-3-1 on the season with sox games left on the schedule, including one next weekend at home against Colorado. Real Salt Lake now has a 3-4-0 record and is back in action next weekend against Houston.
