Reserves: Galaxy 4, Chivas USA 0

Carson, Calif. - The Los Angeles Galaxy Reserves defeated the Chivas USA Reserves, 4-0, on Thursday morning at The Home Depot Center, improving their record to 4-5-2. The crowd of 30, made up of their respective front offices enjoyed a physical match up by the cross-city rivals.


After failing to capitalize on their first half attempts, the Galaxy came in to the second half with an attacking frame of mind scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes, both courtesy of Gavin Glinton. The first one was netted in the 53rd minute, with a pass by Aaron Lopez to Glinton to the top of the box. Glinton was able to fend off a couple of Chivas defenders before taking a straight shot into goal. Two minutes later, Glinton was able to score in his second goal after receiving a pass Gomez hit directly into the box.


In the 59th minute, Kyle Veris used his chest to put in the third goal of the match off a left sided service by Gomez. A minute later, the Galaxy was forced to play the rest of the game a man down, due to the 60st minute expulsion of Aaron Lopez.


Cronin was called upon to make a few critical second-half saves to preserve the Galaxy's shutout, as Chivas made a last ditch effort not go empty handed.


The fourth and final goal of the game came in the 71st minute, when Josh Gardner connected a free kick with Gomez who was able to head it in past a diving Reynolds.
