Reserves: FCD 1, Chivas 1

FRISCO, TX - The FC Dallas Reserves and Chivas USA Reserves opened their Reserve Division schedule with a 1-1 tie on Sunday afternoon at Pizza Hut Park in a game played immediately after the full-squad game between the same two teams, which also ended tied at 1-1. FCD drew first on a goal by Drew Moor, with Chivas' Jorge Flores equalizing early in the second half.

FC Dallas was forced to make an early goalkeeper change as starter Josh Lambo left the game in the seventh minute after a collision inside the box with Chivas USA forward Anthony Hamilton. Lambo was diagnosed with a concussion and taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

FCD struck first in the 25th minute with a header from Drew Moor at the edge of the six yard box. Chase Wileman, on a left-footed, well-placed free kick from 35 yards out to Moor at the back post, and the defender jumped above the Chivas defense to head home the goal.

Arturo Alvarez narrowly missed an opportunity to double the lead ten minutes later after running onto a long ball played up the right side from Eric Avila. Chivas keeper Lance Parker met Alvarez at the corner of the penalty box, forcing Alvarez to cut back to his left foot. The FCD forward then hit a quick floater toward goal, which just missed the target by a foot.

Chivas USA nearly evened the score just before the end of the first half. In the 45th minute, defender Bobby Burling headed a Jorge Flores corner on goal, which guest goalkeeper Matt Wideman deflected directly to Hamilton's foot. The Chivas forward attempted a one-touch shot from point blank range, but it was again saved by Wideman.

The visitors broke through just after the start of the second half, when Flores struck a left-footed shot from the top of the box. Chivas' Keith Savage cut through the FCD defense and hit a low shot directly at Wideman. The FCD keeper deflected the shot out to Flores, who hit it first time into the net.

Both teams had opportunities to pull ahead in the second half but neither was able to capitalize. In the 57th, Alvarez found Dominic Oduro at the top of the box. With a defender closing in, Oduro cut to his right and struck a low, hard shot on frame, forcing parker to make a diving save. Chivas nearly went ahead minutes later when Justin Braun broke into Dallas' penalty area and fired a shot that Wideman kept out of the net by diving low to his right.

Chivas USA continues Reserve Division play on April 8 when they host Real Salt Lake, before hosting the Dallas Reserves on April 21.
