Reserves: Dynamo 2, D.C. United 1

HOUSTON, TX - Houston Dynamo reserves got their seventh victory of the season today, beating D.C. United reserves, 2-1 at Carl Lewis Track Field.

Houston got on the board at the fifth minute of action. Mike Chabala put a cross from the left, which Chris Wondolowski was able to convert with a smooth touch. This would be Wondolowski's 11th goal of the season, and Chabala's 5th assist of the year.

United tried to even up the score in the following minutes of the game. Houston's defense, however, was able to sustain the attack until the 31st minute. It was then that Rod Dyachenko was able to put a solid kick past Dynamo goalkeeper Martin Hutton from outside the box. The game would finish tied at 1 goal apiece at the half.

Once the second half started, both teams struggled for dominance on the field, creating opportunities that never materialized on goal. But Houston was able to get ahead on the board once more at the 75th minute. Taking advantage of an error by D.C. United defenders, Paul Dalglish was able to feed the ball to Wondolowski from the right, for an easy chip to the back of the net. This would be his 12th goal of the year and second of the game.

From there on, Houston dedicated its efforts on protecting the lead, not allowing United to create danger inside the box.

With the win, the Dynamo reserves (7-4-0) accumulate 21 points in Reserve League play with only one game to go in the regular season. D.C. United reserves (6-5-1) played their last game of the year, finishing with 19 points.

Houston will close its Reserve Division schedule on Sunday, October 8, against Real Salt Lake.
