The Real Salt Lake reserves (3-2-1, 10 pts.) dropped a 3-0 decision to the D.C. United reserves (5-1-1, 16 pts.) for only their second loss of the MLS Reserve Season.
D.C. United opened the scoring in the 27th minute when MF Justin Moose played a ball to the top of the box to FW Matt Nickell who controlled and played the ball on to the path of oncoming DF David Stokes who drove it past RSL GK Chase Harrison for the 1-0 lead.
In the second half, D.C. United doubled their advantage in the 67th minute when a RSL defender missed a tackle just outside the right edge of the penalty area on D.C. United MF Justin Moose who controlled the ball and dribbled into the area and centered the ball to FW Matt Nickel who finished from 10 yards out.
D.C. United closed the scoring in the 70th minute on a penalty kick after referee Rick Eddy called RSL DF Cameron Knowles for a foul inside the box for taking down D.C. United FW Jamil Walker. D.C. United MF Ryan Dyachenko converted the spot kick for the final 3-0 result.
