Reserves: Crew 0, FC Dallas 0

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The FC Dallas Reserves tied the Columbus Crew Reserves 0-0 this morning at Crew Stadium. The tie brings Dallas' final Reserve Division record to 4-3-5 (17 points) while Columbus brings a record of 2-8-1 (7 points) into their last Reserve Game next week in Chicago.

Columbus had the first chance to open the scoring in the 23rd minute when Eric Vasquez sent a cross to the near post. Ryan Coiner slid in in front of the Dallas defender to redirect towards goal and saw the ball narrowly go over the crossbar.

Dallas countered a minute later when Dax McCarty opened a play to the left side, leading Arturo Alvarez into the left side of the box. Alvarez shot but Crew keeper Andy Gruenebaum did well to cut the angle and made the save.

Gruenebaum came up with another save on a similar play, again denying Alvarez on the left about 10 yards from the goal.

Columbus pressured down the left side in the 30th minute, with Coiner sending a cross to the top of the penalty area. Kei Kamara crashed the ball and hit a one-time shot that hit a well positioned Ray Burse from five yards out. Burse quickly recovered and covered the ball before Kamara could reach in for the rebound.

The Crew had one final chance in the first half to score. In the 36th minute, Vasquez again lifted a cross from the right to the far post, where Kamara out-jumped his mark to head the ball back across the goal. The ball bounced off the crossbar, and was cleared out of danger by the Dallas defense.

Neither team could get anything going in the second half, as both teams attempted long shots to no avail. Michael Dello-Russo's curling shot from the left was just wide in the 70th, and Kamara's strike from 30 yards out in the 78th also narrowly went wide.
