In a sign of what the rest of the season would hold, Blanco scored his first MLS goal and added an assist as the Fire continued an unbeaten streak that would propel them all the way to the Eastern Conference title game.


October 20, 2007: Revolution @ Toronto FC


Just looking on paper, a matchup of one team out of the hunt and the other chasing the top playoff seed would seem to be a snoozer. But that was far from the case in Toronto, as Danny Dichio found the upper corner in stopage time to stun the crowd and the Revs in the capper to TFC's expansion MLS season.

November 1, 2007: Fire @ United


The shocker of the playoffs, Supporters' Shield winners D.C. United were expected to roar past the upstart Fire in the second leg of the first round. But Cuauhtemoc Blanco and his mates had different ideas, scoring a pair of early goals and holding on for dear life to eke out an aggregate series win, eliminating the league's top regular-season squad.

November 8, 2007: Fire @ Revolution


With one team playing in their sixth straight Eastern Conference Final and the other just squeaking into the playoffs, no one was sure what this matchup for an MLS Cup berth would bring. As it turned out, it would bring one of the tensest and best played games of the season. Only the scoring brilliance of Taylor Twellman, on perhaps the year's most dramatic shot, could settle this one.

November 18, 2007: Dynamo @ Revolution
A fitting end to a fantastic and exciting Major League Soccer season, an MLS Cup matching two of the season's best clubs proved worthy of the championship tag. Houston rallied from a halftime hole with a relentless attack, eventually wearing down the Revolution to earn a second straight MLS Cup title.
