SECAUCUS, NJ - Red Bull New York announced today that it has waived midfielder Sal Caccavale. Caccavale, who was drafted in the second round (19th overall) out of American University in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft, was interested in pursuing the completion of his degree.
Caccavale made an impact in his only MLS appearance on May 19 against the Columbus Crew. Coming on in the 88th minute, Caccavale scored his first MLS goal just four minutes into his debut in a 4-0 win at Giants Stadium. In the MLS Reserve Division, Caccavale made nine appearances and recorded three assists.
