Red Bull New York to host fourth annual overnight soccer tournament to help battle cancer

SECAUCUS, NJ: Red Bull New York will be teaming up with the American Cancer Society to co-host an overnight soccer tournament following Saturday's match against the New England Revolution at Giants Stadium (7:30 PM ET, TV: Fox Soccer Channel).

The fourth-annual Red Bull New York Overnight Soccer Tournament kicks-off at 10:30 PM ET on July 14 and will conclude with the championship match at 5:45 AM on July 15. Fans who are in attendance for the Red Bulls match or make a $10 donation to ACS are invited to attend the tournament. Last year the tournament helped raise $20,000 in an effort to help increase cancer research.

"We are excited to continue our relationship with The American Cancer Society," said Red Bull New York Managing Director Marc de Grandpre. "Last year's Overnight Soccer Tournament was very successful and we look forward to again help raise funds for a worthwhile and valuable cause."

"This is the fourth year that the New York Red Bulls have partnered with the American Cancer Society and we are pleased that the soccer team and its organization are once again demonstrating their commitment to fighting cancer," said Jerry Hannon, Regional Vice President, American Cancer Society Northern, NJ office.

There are 48 teams competing in the tournament this year. Each team will consist of 12 players, with six on the field. All games are 25 minutes in length that will be played on short-sided fields in Giants Stadium and in the Giants Stadium Bubble.

The first round will be a group stage round robin format with each team guaranteed to play in three games. This is followed by a single elimination tournament to determine the champion.
