Real Salt Lake waives midfielder Joey Worthen

SALT LAKE CITY - Real Salt Lake today announced the club has placed MF Joey Worthen on waivers, as of Tuesday. The waiving of Worthen, a Salt Lake City native, means the 27-year-old midfielder is now available to be picked up off the waiver wire by the remaining 12 MLS sides.

Worthen became the first player from the Beehive State to make the Real Salt Lake roster after the club signed the University of South Carolina product to its Senior roster on March 30, 2006. Worthen made three appearances for RSL, all of the bench, in his lone season with the squad in 2006, playing a total of 29 minutes. Worthen joined Real Salt Lake after spending four seasons in the United Soccer Leagues A-League/First Division with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (2002-03) and Richmond Spiders (2004-05).
