Real Salt Lake announces front office promotions

SALT LAKE CITY - Real Salt Lake is pleased to announce the following changes to the organization's Front Office.


Trino Martinez, formerly Director of Public Relations for RSL, has been promoted to Senior Director of Operations, and will oversee all gameday and stadium operations moving forward, serving as the team's primary contact with the University of Utah and Rice-Eccles Stadium. Martinez has over 15 years of experience in event operations, including as a Consultant for the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics, Operations Manager for the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympic Games, Assistant Security Operations Manager for the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games and Competitions Manager for the CONCACAF 2000 Gold Cup & Women's Gold Cup and 1999 Champions Cup. Martinez' previous team experience includes the MLS San Jose Clash from 1995 to 1999, first as Ticket Sales Manager and later as Manager of Team Operations, after joining the MLS charter franchise from the CISL San Diego Sockers, where he worked from 1993 to 1995 as Senior Account Executive.


Jamie Barton, who has overseen all of RSL's community relations initiatives since the teams inception, including special events, fundraisers and player appearances, has been promoted to Director of Events, and will oversee all planning, preparation and execution of future RSL events. Barton will continue to be the point person for community relations initiatives as well, in addition to providing support for gameday promotional activities and publicity initiatives.


Spencer Checketts, formerly the Publicity Manager for RSL, now assumes the responsibility of Senior Manager of Public Relations and become RSL's main contact for all public and media inquires. Checketts will also oversee gameday press operations, media and public relations, and continue to facilitate player, coach and front office interview requests. He will also be part of the team that participates in creation of advertising and marketing campaigns, while also assisting in servicing the team's media partners.


Scot Woodbury, formerly RSL's Director of Operations, has been moved to Director of Logistics and will now oversee all set-up aspects of RSL's gameday experience, pre-game Carnival Real, and all other RSL public functions, as well as oversee all logistical front office operations. Woodbury will also assist in research and package building initiatives for the sponsorship, marketing and ticket sales groups.


Real Salt Lake (9-12-6, 33 pts., 5th West) returns home Saturday to face Western Conference leaders FC Dallas in a match that carries huge playoff implications, kicking off at 7:00 p.m. MT at Rice-Eccles Stadium. RSL currently sits in 5th place in the Western Conference standings with 33 points, but are only two points out of a playoff spot, chasing Chivas USA and the Colorado Rapids, who are tied for 3rd place with 35 points each.
