Real Salt Lake 2, D.C. United 1 -- quote sheet

REAL SALT LAKE 2, D.C. UNITED 1

REAL SALT LAKE HEAD COACH JOHN ELLINGER

On the stoppage time play:
"They're a good team, obviously very dangerous. They hold the ball well at times, and make you work for it. At the end, we just had a little bit extra. It paid off for us this time."

On the defensive play:
"I think the back four played exceptional. Jack Stewart, for stepping in and playing his first game, did a great job. Nik Besagno continued to improve and be steady for us, and my confidence in Nik at the end didn't change when we went to three in the back."

REAL SALT LAKE MIDFIELDER CHRIS KLEIN

On the heart of Real:
"For us to play four or five games in less than two weeks and to have our legs at the end says a lot about the heart of this team."

REAL SALT LAKE FORWARD JEFF CUNNINGHAM

On scoring two penalty kicks:
"It is the first time in my career for this to happen. I think the boys deserved this win tonight, and I am happy that I was able to put both of those away."

D.C. UNITED HEAD COACH PETER NOWAK

On the play in the second half:
"In the second half we played backwards, backwards, backwards. We couldn't find the creation, we couldn't find the forwards; that was the main problem in the second half."

On the penalty kicks awarded in stoppage time:
"If you are going to beat us, beat us in a fair way. Especially the two PKs, this isn't supposed to happen to our league. Maybe this is the way the league works."

On the difference in D.C. United's only two losses:
"We didn't get two PKs to beat us. They got one in Colorado, they beat us and today they had two, that's it."

D.C. UNITED FORWARD JAIME MORENO

On missed chances to score:
"We gave the game and three points away. That is football; that is soccer. When you miss chances that are easy to put away you get punished and that is what happened tonight."
