RBNY reserves top Seton Hall

MONTCLAIR, NJ --
The New York Red Bull Reserves defeated Seton Hall University, 5-0, Monday morning at Sprague Field on the Montclair State University campus. Chris Megaloudis paced the Red Bulls offense with three goals and one assist.

The Red Bulls were the more aggressive side from the first touch, putting immediate pressure on the Seton Hall defense, putting together two quality chances before Megaloudis broke through for the first of his three consecutive tallies in the seventh minute.

Lider Marmol played a diagonal ball to a wide open Megaloudis, who put the ball to the near post for the 1-0 lead.

Four minutes later, Marmol began another scoring play, dispossessing a Seton Hall player in the midfield. A nice build up ensued, with Mike Magee feeding Chuck Kim down the right flank, and Kim's cross finding Megaloudis for his second marker of the match.

Three minutes later, Michael Palacio's diagonal ball found John Wolyniec alone on the right flank. Wolyniec's cross found Megaloudis on the far post, and the Puerto Rican International completed his natural hat trick.

In the second 45 minutes, Megaloudis added an assist to his already impressive tally, setting up Kim all alone with the keeper, before Kim added an assist of his own, on a goal by Julian Gomez, to complete the scoring.

Trialist Chris Innes anchored the back line for New York, allowing no significant scoring opportunities for Seton Hall until after all the Red Bull substitutions had been made.

The Red Bull First Team returns to action on Saturday, April 19, hosting the New England Revolution at Giants Stadium. The match is slated for 7:30 PM. The Red Bull Reserves open up the MLS Reserve season the following morning against the New England Revolution Reserves at Montclair State University.
