Rapids reserves can clinch title

COMMERCE CITY, CO (Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007) - The defending MLS Reserve Division Champion Colorado Rapids Reserve Team learned this morning that they can clinch the title for the second straight year tonight in game two of the doubleheader taking place at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Losses this morning by both the New England Revolution Reserves and the Chivas USA Reserves means that the Rapids Reserves can clinch the championship title for the second straight year tonight if they win vs. the Toronto FC Reserves. Three points in the Reserve Division standings would put Colorado out of the reach of the rest of the league. A loss or tie by Colorado vs. the Toronto Reserves tonight would mean that the championship title couldn't be decided until their next match.

The Rapids Reserves are playing in Game 2 of tonight's doubleheader at the Rapids' home stadium; the Rapids Reserves vs. the Toronto FC Reserves match will kick off about a half hour after the end of the first team match, at approximately 8:30pm MT under the lights at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Admission to the Reserve game tonight is free for fans holding tickets to the first team game, which kicks off tonight at 6:00pm MT. In that match, the Colorado Rapids are facing a must-win situation in order to stay in playoff contention as they face off against Toronto FC in the Canadian club's first-ever visit to Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

The Colorado Rapids organization urges all fans coming to tonight's match to stay for the second game of tonight's doubleheader and cheer the Rapids Reserves on to victory! Tickets are still available for tonight's doubleheader at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park box office, which is now open.

Should the Rapids Reserves win tonight, the 2007 MLS Reserve Division Trophy will be awarded to Coach John Murphy and the Rapids Reserves in a special on-field presentation following the game.
