Rapids Foundation to host "World Cup of Wines" with fans, players and coaches

The Colorado Rapids announced today they will hold a wine-tasting event, dubbed "The World Cup of Wines," featuring players and coaches representing wines from their various countries.

The event, scheduled for Thursday, July 10 from 6:30-9 p.m., will be held at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Fans are invited to "experience the world's wines" with their favorite players and coaches in a cocktail-like setting. All Rapids players and coaches will be in attendance. Tickets are $50/person or $90/couple.

"This is an experience unlike any other wine tasting," said Rapids' managing director Jeff Plush. "To have an opportunity to sample some of the best wines from around the world in a setting like Dick's Sporting Goods Park will be a unique occasion for our fans and clients. Our roster is comprised of players hailing from eight different countries, so an event like this is a way for all of us to celebrate our combined international heritage while also raising money for worthy causes."

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation, the official 501c(3) non-profit charity of the Colorado Rapids. This is one of several fundraising events put on annually by the Rapids Foundation, designed to raise money and awareness about the efforts of the CRCCF to aid in the fight against child hunger and to support positive youth development opportunities in Colorado.

Wine will be provided through a generous contribution from Southern Wine and Spirits, one of the state's largest wine distributors.
