COMMERCE CITY - The Colorado Rapids announced today that midfielder PABLO MASTROENI, forward OMAR CUMMINGS, and goalkeeper BOUNA COUNDOUL have been nominated to win awards at the 6th Annual Denver Sports Fans Choice Awards, taking place this coming Monday, December 10 at a gala dinner at the Marriott Denver City Center.
Once a year every December, players from across all of Denver's professional sports teams are honored for their contributions on and off the field at the Denver Sports Fans Choice Awards.
The Denver Sports Fans Choice Awards event allows fans to vote for players among all the pro teams in the Denver Metro Area in such categories as Most Valuable Player and the Rising Star.
The Denver Sports Fans Choice Awards also recognizes and honors those athletes who go above and beyond the call of duty by giving back to the community and causes close to their hearts with 'The Hometown Hero' award.
Rapids players Pablo Mastroeni and Omar Cummings are nominated for the MVP and Rising Star Awards, respectively, while Bouna Coundoul will be honored with one of this year's 'Hometown Hero' awards.
Each year Sports Profiles Plus exclusively manages, produces, and promotes the Sports Fans Choice Awards. This program is best described as a "local version of the ESPY's". This event is the only time that all the professional sports teams in the Denver area pull together and showcase their players for on and off the field accomplishments collectively in an awards-type setting.
All net proceeds from the evening's silent auction will once again benefit the Gold Crown Foundation.
