Rapids 1, Wizards 1 -- quote sheet

COLORADO RAPIDS 1, KANSAS CITY WIZARDS 1

COLORADO RAPIDS HEAD COACH FERNANDO CLAVIJO

On the game:
"I thought we went into the half with an advantage at 1-0 and should have kept it a little bit better. I told the guys that there is nothing to be ashamed of. We were playing a very good team. You give one chance to Eddie Johnson and he is going to make you pay. We created chances as we tried for the equalizer and we sent people forward. I think it was a good game for the fans. There was attractive soccer up and down the field. There were two good teams out there. When you have injuries, you have to trust your players, the rest of your roster, which we do. Every player has an opportunity to step into the lineup and do a good job. I thought we did except for one minute of that game. It's a long season, we are going to lose some players to national team call-ups, to injuries and we are going to have to respond. Today we let two points get away, but there were two very good teams out there."

COLORADO RAPIDS MIDFIELDER JOVAN KIROVSKI

On his goal and the game:
"Herculez (Gomez) hit it on the turn and the guy put his hand up. I take penalty kicks all the time and I picked my spot and just hit it. We went up 1-0 and early on in the second half we had a couple of chances and then they caught us on the break. They are a good team; they have been doing well this season. We got a point and have to keep moving, keep playing. There is another game coming up on Wednesday."

COLORADO RAPIDS DEFENDER MIKE PETKE

On the defense and key players missing:
"You have Brandon Prideaux who has won two MLS Cups and Greg Vanney who has played in Europe and those are huge loses. However, one person's loss is another person's gain. Dan Gargan and Chris Wingert came on and they have been doing well. They work hard in practice and Gargan has had three solid games for us. It is going to make the other guy's situation tougher when they make it back."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS HEAD COACH CURT ONALFO

On the game:
"We're trying to develop a championship organization. I think the guys have their heads down. We're on the road and we tied, and they have their heads down because they felt like they could've gotten three points. I thought we had a good performance. I thought we were the team that was more dangerous overall on the night. I thought it was a good performance, certainly a good one on the road, and one we can build on."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS MIDFIELDER DAVY ARNAUD

On the size of the field:
"With the big field it can be a lot of running. I thought we did pretty well staying compact for most of the game. When you stay organized, it's a little easier; you don't have to do quite as much running. We prepared for it during the week; the coaching staff made the field a little bigger for us, so we were ready for it tonight."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS MIDFIELDER KERRY ZAVAGNIN

On the team:
"We're a team that keeps fighting to the end. That's going to help us down the road; it's a staple of a championship team. We need to continue to get better at the little things and we'll be well on our way."
