United States Under-23 National Team Head Coach Peter Nowak has named LA Galaxy defender Mike Randolph in his 24-man squad for the final training camp prior to the start of CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying later this month. The camp will be held in Bradenton, Fla. and will run from March 1-9. Next, the final 20-player roster travels to Tampa, the location of the first-round games in the qualifying tournament for Group A, which features the U.S., as well as Cuba, Honduras and Panama.
Randolph will join the National Team in Bradenton on Sunday, March 2. He will be available for selection for the Galaxy on Saturday, March 1 against FC Seoul before heading back to the U.S. later that night.
"This is a tremendous honor for Mike and a testament to his talents on the field," Galaxy Director of Soccer Paul Bravo said. "Hopefully, he will be able to help us defeat FC Seoul on Saturday night and then go and earn himself a spot on the Olympic Qualifying roster."
The 22-year old received his first-ever call-up to the National Team at any level in early December when he trained with Nowak's squad at The Home Depot Center before flying to China for a pair of games against the Chinese U-23's in Changsha and Guangzhou later that month. In January and early February, Randolph participated in a pair of camps with the U-23's in Bradenton, Fla., playing in four games with the Red, White and Blue.
In his first full season with the Galaxy in 2007, Randolph appeared in 19 games, making 15 starts and collecting one assist. Randolph also appeared in three games in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and two matches in SuperLiga.
