TORONTO FC 2, LOS ANGELES GALAXY 0

TORONTO FC HEAD COACH JOHN CARVER

On playing the game without a lot of regulars:

"I think the evidence is there -- for example, our reserves are doing OK in the league, they should have four out of four (wins). We should have won the first game, but that shows we've got a little more strength and depth. That's why today's performance has given me more pleasure than any other performance of the season. When you've got six players out of the team, Laurent's (Robert) suspended, a couple of slight injuries and guys who are on international duty then it's a little bit of a concern but I've got faith and confidence in the guys who have come in and I've said to them in the dressing room that you've been waiting for a chance you've been patient -- and they've taken it."

On play of Julius James:

"I'm delighted for Julius because it's his first professional game and goal, which is great, great ratio. But he's come in, stepped in for Tebily and was fantastic. "

TORONTO FC FORWARD JEFF CUNNINGHAM

On his goal:

"I was very relieved (to score the goal). Two and a half months of not playing, you know that goal meant a lot. The win proves to the coach that he has depth and has confidence in others stepping in able to get the job done -- it's a good feeling for other guys to come in and make a difference."

TORONTO FC DEFENDER JULIUS JAMES

On his first goal:

"It was unreal. Nothing you can experience will give you that kind of feeling. I've been waiting for a while, since preseason to play and I got the chance today and with the help of my teammates and God, things worked out."

If he was frustrated on not playing in so long:

"Definitely, but the older guys keep talking to me and tell me to have patience. They keep saying guys are going to get injured and so on, but my parents, everyone just keeps supporting me ... friends and family too. I was frustrated but every player has to sit on the bench at some point and time."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH RUUD GULLIT

On the game:

"I think that we started under circumstances pretty well, and not much chances from both sides. If you see how we started, first touch we give it away, second ball we touch, we give it away and that sets the tone. I think that the free kick (Toronto goal) changed the whole game and there was a moment that we could have conceded more goals."

On the loss:

"Every defeat is heavy. You don't need explanations for that, the frustration is that when we played the first game we outplayed them (in LA in April), incredible that we lost that game and here on this pitch when it rains it becomes even more difficult and you have to adjust to it. But I think we played OK, but we started sloppy in the second half and that causes a little bit of problems."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY DEFENDER CHRIS KLEIN

On the game:

"It's disappointing, especially when we played OK. I think it was a little bit of bend and don't break, finally they get through on a set piece and that changed the game -- we really didn't have much. I don't know how many chances we created but it's obviously disappointing but we'll look at it and move on."

On if the team can take any positives out of game:

"Not really. I guess some guys get experience and you learn from playing in that atmosphere, you can always learn from your mistakes. But we've got to do a better job and it's difficult missing Landon (Donovan) and David (Beckham), but we're going to have to deal with it because in this league you play games when the national teams play too, so we're going to have games where we're missing those guys."
