REAL SALT LAKE 0, SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES 0

REAL SALT LAKE HEAD COACH JASON KREIS

On the second half goal that was ruled offside:

"How was it decided to be offside? Because the linesmen clearly ran back thinking that it was onside, so something appears a little odd."

On RSL's inability to finish shots and San Jose playing a man down:

"We'll have to feel very disappointed that the final touch wasn't there to get us all three points. I think that this is the first time all season that we have been a man up, and so for this team I think it's another area where we have to go back and look and see how we dealt with it. I would say it probably wasn't good enough, and it's another experience we're going to have to learn from.

"Our players have to have a little bit more of an aggressive mentality when you are playing against a team that is a man down. You have to know that they are going to sit in a bunker, and in order for you to move those players around you've got to dribble at them. You've got to be aggressive and cause defenders to make decisions on whom to play."

On RSL's defense:

"I thought the defensive performance was fantastic. If you just look at when we were even, (that) would be a fair assessment of our defense. We really, really limited their number of chances again tonight."

REAL SALT LAKE MIDFIELDER KYLE BECKERMAN

On the goal that was called back:

"I saw it coming and maybe it was going in, I'm not sure, but I wasn't going to chance it if it hit the post, and really I thought I was onside. I thought I had the header and then I went. We'll have to check it."

On moving on from this game:

"I think we're going to match up a little better with New England because they like to play soccer. When teams like San Jose come here, they just sit in and play a lot of kick ball, try and get a draw, or wait to see if we make mistakes. This weekend we'll be up for it, it's New England. It will be a tough game, but we'll definitely be up for it."

REAL SALT LAKE DEFENDER NAT BORCHERS

On the result:

"I think we are disappointed, I think we should be disappointed, because in all fairness we were the better team tonight. We were the only team that was out on the field tonight. We had chances to score, they didn't have anything, and they were a man down. So we had everything in our favor, I think it's really disappointing that we don't win that game."

On what kept RSL from gaining the full three points:

"I think we could've done a little bit better with our possession and we could've done a little bit better spreading out on the field. I think we lost the ball far too many times. At the same time, I think our guys really did work hard to win the ball back, and we put in a really good effort. It's just one of those nights, unfortunately."

SAN JOSE HEAD COACH FRANK YALLOP

On getting the point:

"It is good, but what it really does is not let Real Salt Lake get three points. Our division is as tight as anything, so on road games you don't want to lose, a tie is fine. In home games in our division you want to get a win, so Real Salt Lake is probably disappointed, but it evens itself out. They just got a good result at Chivas and a tie here, so they are still unbeaten in two matches."

On the play of Ronnie O'Brien:

"He was our man of the match. He was really good on both sides of the ball. Ronnie is back to his best and we are excited to have him. He is doing really well."

SAN JOSE MIDFIELDER RONNIE O'BRIEN

On playing at RSL for the first time this season:

"You need to do what you need to do. To be honest, I haven't had to play here before because of the turf. I am just happy to come off it very healthy."

On allowing goals:

"It has been a problem all year. If we don't fight and scrap with teams, we don't get anything. If you watch a lot of our games, we are actually a good footballing side, but we have to find the way to play. Like LA last week, we were second to every ball and we didn't get stuck in and we got walked all over. Columbus the week before and tonight, we were pretty physical. We get in and do what we have to do to get on the ball, and if we had more than 10 men tonight hopefully we would have played better football."

SAN JOSE DEFENDER KELLY GRAY

On the result:

"We came out with the right attitude. We were unfortunate to go down a man, but we showed what type of team we can be. To come here and get a gritty point is definitely good for us."

On Ronnie O'Brien:

"He is a veteran, a leader, and an offense threat, so anytime we can get him on the field it is great for us. The last few times here he has been injured, and we are just lucky that he is healthy now. In the last two weeks he has led us out there on the field."

SAN JOSE GOALKEEPER JOE CANNON

On how going a man down affected the game:

"When we go a man down I think the focus almost becomes completely on not giving up a goal, when before you are trying to get the ball up the field and trying to stretch. In this game we really didn't give up too many chances, and of course had couple good saves by the goalkeeper."

REFEREE JASEN ANNO

On the disallowed goal:

"The decision was not overturned, but when the ball was put into the goal the assistant referee did not think that Kyle Beckerman touched the ball. The center (referee) came over to discuss the play. (The) assistant referee asked if Kyle Beckerman touched the ball, as he was in an offside position. The referee confirmed that Beckerman did touch the ball, so the decision was made to disallow the goal and award the offside infraction."
