Quotes: LA 1, HOU 3

I keep saying that, but we are so naïve in certain spots. We are so naïve with our fight and our will to do better. We just expect that another goal has gone in and guys just don't take responsibility. A lot of times, you have to make sure that you feel like something is your fault, and a lot of guys don't. They think that the players think that maybe they could have done in a situation, but they don't take responsibility and that's difficult."

On the defense:
"Again, our confidence level is poor, especially in the back. We are nervous and indecisive. All the things you are not supposed to be as a defender, we are. Granted, there are some young kids back there, but they have played a lot of games, including Mike Randolph. He's played enough games to have learned and know what to do, and how to conduct himself. Yeah, he gives a penalty away and he drops he's head down. Troy Roberts and Ty Harden have both played a lot of matches, and Chris Klein's not a defender, but he's an experienced player. As a group, we just expected it."

On the two goals in the second half:
"The first goal came in the start of the half, with Mike Randolph. He's trying to let the ball run out of play, and he makes a bad decision, obviously to try to do that. I think the fouls outside the box to start with, but once he gets in the box, he's got to let him go. If he keeps grabbing him, it's going to be a penalty kick. I've just seen it live. I thought the linesman should have put his flag down and let the referee make the decision, to be honest. I felt like that it was outside the box to start with, but that obviously gives them a good start to the half. Ten seconds into the (half), and we are 2-1 down. We start to drop our heads. And for the other goal, no one takes initiative to clear it or foul somebody. And, they were just able to go in and finish it. It's obviously disappointing."

On Kelly Gray coming back:
"He's trained one day, and he's played 30 minutes in one match. We are down to bare bones. It's not an ideal situation for Kelly. He comes into the game and tries his best. He's miles of being game fit, and miles of being any kind of stamp on the game. Usually Kelly is a smart player. He handles the ball well, but we don't have a lot of options. That's the thing."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY FORWARD ALAN GORDON:
On the result:
"I'm disappointed, really disappointed. I thought we were playing well. It's the same feeling I've had in other games. I felt that we've played well in other games, we just make big mistakes, and it costs us."

HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR:
On Houston's performance:
"I thought we moved the ball better. The game opened up too, and once it opens up it makes a difference for us, with guys like Brian (Mullan), Dwayne (De Rosario) and Corey (Ashe)."

On the Galaxy:
"We did do some good things. I think that LA is tired. They played Thursday, and they put everything in that game, and the last two goals were in the last two minutes. We had some chances. We defended better against Alan Gordon in the second half than in the first half."

On Landon Donovan:
"We saw him play against Chivas on Thursday, and he was very dangerous from the first minute to the last minute. We wanted to make sure we were prepared. We showed a video this morning of Landon about to break free with the ball. We just wanted to make sure we had someone around him at all times, especially when the ball turns over and he tries to find pockets of freedom."

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER DWAYNE DE ROSARIO:
On the result:
"We have a great team. We have a group of guys that want to work hard for each other, and that's why we get results."

On Frank Yallop:
"I've worked with Frank for the (Canadian) national team and in San Jose. He just has to keep his head up. I feel for him because I know the quality of coach he is and he doesn't deserve to get all these losses."

HOUSTON DYNAMO DEFENDER WADE BARRETT:
On making the playoffs:
"We will just worry about the next game. The attitude of this team is to try to get three points in the next game. It's certainly nice to be in the playoffs, but there is still a lot to play for in the next couple of games. We're still trying to fight for the Supporters' Shield, and that depends on some other results, but it's still in our grasp. We also want to secure home-field advantage. It's a big deal. Playing at home for us is quite nice, so there is still a lot to play for."

On the penalty kick:
"I don't look at it as a gift. We try to attack at all the time on our goal kicks, and you would be amazed on many times we score. Think back to MLS Cup last year. It's just our attitude, as soon as we give up a goal we try to come back and put pressure on them, or at the half at kickoff, so I don't think that was a gift. I do think at their end it's disheartening to come out in the first 15 seconds to give up a penalty like that. It's obviously a big deal for us to come out quickly and go back on top. We've done a good job playing on top in the past, and it was unfortunate to give up that goal in the first half, but it was good to get back on top in the second half."
