Quotes: KC 1, FCD 1

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS 1, FC DALLAS 1

FC DALLAS HEAD COACH SCHELLAS HYNDMAN

On the game:

"I thought that we had a couple very good chances in the first five or seven minutes and then as I look at the first half I thought we got outworked. I thought they were a little bit more organized. They were winning the second balls and they seemed to have a little bit better strategy and plan in attack. I made early substitutions and wasn't really sure if they were the best substitutions because we took out some very good players. But what I'm looking for is a little bit more energy , a little bit more work ethic. Eric gets the assist, one of the substitutions and Abe gets the goal, another one of the substitutions. So it came out right in the end."

FC DALLAS FORWARD ABE THOMPSON

On what his instructions were entering the game at halftime:

"He (coach Hyndman) says to go out there and contribute, hold the ball up well. Just kind of occupy their center backs and frustrate them as much as I can. Just go out there and create chances and finish chances and luckily I've been able to do that the last couple of games."

FC DALLAS MIDFIELDER ERIC AVILA

On making his second league appearance and the first at home:

"My first game was against Houston I was a little nervous and excited and glad to be out there. Now as I'm coming into my second game in MLS, which is awesome, I felt comfortable and I felt calm. I feel just like another regular game and me trying to add something to it."

On earning his first career assist:

"Kansas City was sitting so it was hard to come to the middle and they were just blocking the ways so I decided to pull it out wide. The ball was with Dax on the right side and me pulling away just brought more space. As soon as I got the ball and saw everyone in the box and I knew it was time to serve it in. Seeing Abe make that run made me hit the perfect ball and just hitting it back in the mix is what we needed."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS HEAD COACH CURT ONALFO

On the game:

"It was a game where we had plenty of chances to put the game away and our inability to do that cost us at the end. Defensively we were outstanding for 91 minutes. We've given up a very few amount of goals in MLS, we were three minutes away from another shutout but you can't put your defense under that amount of pressure for that long for that many minutes. When you have your chances you have to put them away, it's that simple."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS DEFENDER JIMMY CONRAD

On the game:

"I think any player or coach in this situation would be disappointed. There's a lot of things we can look at, but if we get that second goal we pretty much put the nail in the coffin. We didn't do that part of it today. I thought we defended well and limited their chances. We made the game pretty predictable and at the end we were just kind of bunkering down and they put in a good ball and had a good finish."
